9TH OF SEPTEMBER 1941: Capt Scanland Sr. is giving the oath of enlistment to FLC Clarence F. Patten and his 7 sons at the same time! All on the crew of USS NEVADA (BB-36). Capt Scanland saved many lives in Pearl Harbor (as noted on the Nevada pic released from the U.S. Naval Historical Center).
