Rare 1952 Topps Minnie Minoso Rookie Card (#195). Same year as the iconic 1952 Mantle card! Beautiful condition for its age. Smooth, impressive surface with no front creases or wrinkles. Minimal background markings. Extraordinarily clean and bright reverse side with very small aging ripple. Well-centered cut.
Historical Note: Minnie and Mickey Mantle both hit their first MLB Home Runs in the same game! It only took Minnie one at-bat!
Minnie also achieved this feat in the Negro Leagues - 1st game, 1st at-bat, and was the star player, winning a recognized World Series Championship.
From 1951-60, Miñoso hit .307 with a .397 On-Base Percentage. During that period, only Mantle scored more runs, only Mantle/Berra drove in more RBIs, only Luis Aparicio had more steals (+1), and only Nellie Foxx had more hits. He hit more doubles than all of them!
SABR researcher Scott Simkus found that when you combine Miñoso’s MLB, minor league, and Cuban League hits, the total reaches a staggering 4,073, ranking 7th all-time. For collectors of vintage baseball cards, this is a significant piece of history. Sold untested and as-is.
