Made in 1980, this 10 1/4" plate is the second in the series and titled "Mask Dancing." Features a group of farmer boys wearing goblin masks dancing under cherry blossom trees. Each plate includes haiku poetry. The haiku on this plate is "Planting done, we dance to ward off evil, invoke blessings on our crops."
Plate # 2208, Fourth in the "Warabe No Haiku" Series. Painted by Suetomi in Showa 55 (1980). Handmade Limited Edition. Purveyor to the Imperial Household, Fukagawa. Hezen, Arita, Japan. No noted scraps, cracks, chips, or fading.
