Originally the Pawnee Railroad chartered in 1890. In 1905 The Chicago Edison Co. acquired the Pawnee RR in conjunction with Illinois Midland Coal Company. The railroad ran until 1996, with connections to many other roads. It still runs today as the Illinois and Midland Railroad.
