The Vigilantes, a Montana Masonic Lodge that actually existed before Montana itself did, had a large dedicated membership. Most are veterans with a hero's humbleness and a quest for balance, equality, and knowledge. They gained fame for the large number of hangings that they generously hosted. They even hung up one of their own, a clubfoot Sheriff named Henry Plummer. Some say these are the same Vigilantes who murdered Montana's first governor, although they deny it.
