Info about artist/silversmith:
Miguel Melendez began his artistic apprenticeship at William Spratling's Taxco shop. In the 1940s, he went to work for Los Castillo and later to work with Margot de Taxco. Through these experiences, he perfected his skills and got inspiration for many of his later designs. By the 1950s, he started to produce designs under his own name. He worked on Mexican traditional designs with fine inlaying in abalone shell and turquoise.
