Striking pair of blown glass candlestick holders by Edward Kachurik.
They rise elegantly from a clear base. The column of transparent glass has a double spiral of pink winding through it. The socket and downturned trumpet-style bobeche are also clear.
Since 1978, Pittsburgh-born glass artist Edward Kachurik has been producing fine studio glass. Trained at Penland in North Carolina and Penn State University, he uses a technique of veiling - applying a metallic coating to hot glass which is then covered with clear glass, binding the color into the glass. For the last few decades, he has focused on glass sculpture. His webpage may be of interest.
Kachurik has won numerous awards and been featured in numerous exhibitions across the U.S.A. His work has been collected by Johnny Carson, Jimmy Buffett, and Fred Rogers. It is in the permanent collections of many museums.
