We are offering this piece from a collection of Nahler studio art pottery. Barbara Nahler was a Detroit designer and her artwork was often displayed at the Coach House Gallery.
This unique, handmade ceramic pottery basket was purchased from the Coach House Gallery on Van Dyke Place in Indian Village, Detroit, Michigan in the early 1970s. The gallery was owned by Nona Herzog.
Nona Herzog supported local artists, and was actively involved with the Scarab Club. Local artists included Johanna Haas, Nahler, Bill Evans, Karen Carter, and Mary Lark, among others. Her gallery also featured international artists, such as Vagh and Miele.
This basket is a spectacular, one-of-a-kind piece.
Unique in its construction and glazing. The 11" ceramic basket features a beautiful glaze in deep browns and grayish tones.
