Rare, vintage Le Bambole di Arianna Porcelain Doll “Nine”, handmade in Italy. One of the first dolls produced.
Incised on the back of head: "6A ARIANNA ITALIA". Doll was never displayed or played with. Approximately 12” tall. Purchased in Europe in 1997.
Full body fine bisque porcelain doll, 5-way jointed (neck, shoulders, and hips). Porcelain hang tag with her name "Nine" is suspended from her wrist. Her hair is made of Mohair and is covered with a cap adorned with pearls. Blue eyes are hand-painted glass.
Gorgeous and intricate outfit made of the finest European materials. She wears hand-crocheted slippers, pantalettes trimmed with lace and pink ribbons, an organza slip beneath her long-sleeved cotton dress, and a bib, all trimmed with Italian lace. A truly precious collectible.
