Vintage nautical log, made of brass, iron, and bakelite. Made in England by Thos. Walker & Son, Knotmaster Log Mark IIIA, London, from the 1930s. It's a historic maritime instrument that measured a ship's speed and distance. The propeller was thrown overboard and towed, transmitting the number of turns to the log's quadrants.
Box size: 31x16.5 cm, height 15 cm.
Thomas Walker patented his first Walker log in 1861.
